2 crores is what one needs to go back to India
i have been having this discussions and i guess even a crore in either FD (fixed deposit with 8 %) would fetch 65 k rupees a month
which is more than what a Middle level manager gets in India

1. They had to post the 485 pending list sooner than they anticipated because USCIS "one up"ped them by posting the info on their website and hence they were not able to play "God" with that info anymore.
2. They got my ID and IP banned but still I came back.
Ban me all you want but my posts will resonate this forum for ever you corrupt "Core" scumbags.
y did u start a new thread on your tracker website..... again bashing iv?
your job is non-productive and meaningless..... u need to find a better employer than the tracker website..... think of u'r long term career..... what will be the next job for u after the end of employment with tracker website..... what will u say in u'r resume.... that u were creating fake ids and writing fake posts on the web..... pretending to be someone u'r not..... what type of job will u get from this kind ok experience @ fake work........

It seems that numberusa.com (not numbersusa.com) and
numberusa.org Domain Names are not occupied by NumbersUSA
Shouldn't we be more strategic and try to own those domain ? ;)
and we can make those sites pro-immigrantion !
This sounds like a good Idea. Just redirect it to Immigration voice :)

Hello All,
Ok here is my story. EB3 Non RIR from TEXAS, Oct 2001. Never approved from State, so no advertising was done. Labor went to backlog. REceived a 45 day letter in 20 jan 2006. Lawyer never notified HR, but directlly replied to Backlog center. I am assuming the next communication between Backlog and lawyer will be in regards to advertising, since none took place. My company also applied PERM. PERM got approved. Since PD date is OCT 2001 for old one, company decided to keep that as well. CAn I use PERM advertisement form y Old labor, if and when Backlog will request it. I140 applied for PERM. Waitng for its approval. its been 2 months.
Here anothery scenerio. Another employe I140 application was applied after mine, and his got approved, mine is still in processing. What gives here.
This is very strange.

The idea, already suggested by lskreddy and pappu, to contact international students will be very effective to increase IV members.
If you look at various contact methods as chain reaction, students have high multiplication factor, and their chain extends to other universities too.
Hope their needs are in scope of IV's mission, because they haven't started G.C. process yet!
To Admin, Pappu and other active members,
Dont you agree that we need to organize efforts for IV publicity?
Many effective ideas in this thread do not reach to all members. And, there is no way to find out if anybody followed up on particular idea.
Can this work out,
1) Webmaster or a Moderator should manage two new sections called "Media Awareness" and "Member Creation". Links to these sections should be on Home page like "Headlines/Announcements".
It will list all ideas, approved by IV team, which a member can volunteer for.
This list can grow by new ideas submitted by members.
2) When someone finds an idea, for example to contact local newspaper or TV station, in list that s/he can volunteer, that member can submit to list. This way Moderator or other members know it's being taken care of.
Also, volunteers can submit their follow up comments to same list.
May be this has been thought of already.

[GCCard_Dream]Before you accuse me of coming up with an arbitrary date, I suggest you do some homework yourself and go read the draft. I have posted the content of the bill where it explicitely specifies the cut off date (date of the introduction of the bill). If you don't want to do any reading and just pass comments then go ahead and do that but that won't change what's in the bill.
Here is the your quote from the bill.
2) PENDING AND APPROVED PETITIONS AND APPLICATIONS.Petitions
22 for an employment-based visa filed for classification under
23 section 203(b)(1), (2), or (3) of the Immigration and Nationality
24 Act (as such provisions existed prior to the enactment of this
25 section) that were filed prior to the date of the introduction of
26 the [Insert title of Act] and were pending or approved at the time of
27 the effective date of this section, shall be treated as if such
28 provision remained effective and an approved petition may serve
29 as the basis for issuance of an immigrant visa. Aliens with
30 applications for a labor certification pursuant to section
31 212(a)(5)(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act shall
32 preserve the immigrant visa priority date accorded by the date
33 of filing of such labor certification application.
where does it say introduction of "BILL" ?? You are just reading between the lines and assuming the worst..(But if it helps the fund drive then it's great..)To me it just says that, the date when the law is going to be enacted or the first day the law comes into play. Historically, it never happened and it never will be. I am only trying to be positive here.

Getting an Indian cannot increase "diversity" because Indians are not AT ALL under-represented in these professions. Diversity is limited to people of African American, Hispanic and native Indian origin and also women in many professions.

I think other posters have dealt with the original subject in all possible angles already. So let me see if I can take a little diversion.
I just wanted to comment on this aspect of "parents wishing to help daughters thru pregnancy" and IO officers having issue with that. I have heard this problem mentioned in numerous instances. And also personally had to coach my parents to answer politically correctly.
But, How can the IO's say that the pregnant daughters can hire domestic help...Didn't they have wives who needed much needed moral support, age old wisdom, loving care that only mothers can provide to daughters when they are especially vulnerable emotionally as well as physically. What about daughters who want their mothers to be present during labour. Is that not a humane enough reason to allow a "Visitor Visa" ???
In what way can the IOs morally combine the two completely different issues of "domestic help" versus "The need for Parental presence/affection for Emotional help and guidance" and the "Emotional bonding time that a grandmother needs to bond with her first grand child" !!! I always seethe with rage whenever I hear about IOs denying parental visit to help out during pregnancy...The IOs always distort the 'help out' aspect with 'domestic/nanny help' and nothing else. Whereas almost always its much more than a mere 'nanny help'.
I totally agree with you friend. The IO's somehow think in this way: The mother is taking the job away from a US nanny. Although like you said the mother is providing the much more than nanny help. Then again, how can we expect immigration to have a humane angle.

BACKGROUND & TALKING POINTS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HR5882 was sponsored by Congresswoman Lofgren and Congressman Sensenbrenner. This bill recaptures all the unused visa numbers that have been lost since 1992 due to processing delays in Employment based category and Family category. It is estimated that 216000 green cards will be recaptured which would help to eleviate the employment based backlogs.
Please use the instructions provided below to make the phone calls.
(1) Call the congressman/woman office and request to speak with the aide who handles Legislative and Immigration matters
2) If they are not available leave a VM for them -
"I would like Representative "Representative Name" to support HR 5882, bill to recapture the green cards lost due to processing and bureaucratic delays. As you may already know that this is a bi-partisan bill with wide bipartisan support in the house and will help improve American competitiveness & reduce the back logs associated with USCIS. This bill is non controversial measures that will help US to stay competitive with a highly educated and skilled work force and address family based backlogs also.
To All congress-critters:
In a nutshell, this bill allows USCIS to manage their workflow more effectively, which provides better customer service, and will eventually lead to better turn-around times.
To Democrats: More people will be able to get their citizenship in reasonable times.
To Republicans: Companies will be able to attract more talent which improves economic performance."
(3) As usual Do NOT get into the CIR issue or illegal Immigration. If the aide is confusing with CIR or illegal immigration, just tell them that these are legal immigration bills.
(4) If the aide asks whether you belong to the district or not, tell them NO if you don't. Mention to them that you already spoke with your representative and would like the congressman/congresswoman
support.
The list of key representatives along with their contact information is provided in this post.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If asked please say that you are a member of Immigration Voice.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the staffer ask - "did you call the representative in your area", say that -
"Yes I did. Congressman/Congresswoman is a prominent member of Immigration Sub-committee which makes him a national figure of great importance. Congressman's decision and support is very important for people inside and outside of your district and as such I urge you and the Congressman to support HR5882."
Also advise all friends, everyone you know to do the same.

I agree with you, the whole purpose of the FOIA was to find out the number of people in the queue to help us figure out the duration of our wait...USCIS releases a report then submits another one and there is no corelation between the PD and the VB....why?
This has been my primary issue with the numbers provided by USCIS. Given the fact that the same number of visas available for Mexico and India (EB3, no spillover) and the fact that the number of applicants before Mexico's cut off date is in the thousands, why was India's PD not moved at all. Something is not right...I am positive that India should not have thousands of cases in consular processing, infact a large number of Latin american cases are CP. Something is wrong... either the data is incorrect or the State Department and USCIS have no communication...something smells rotten somewhere. For the past 2 years or so, Indian EB3 PD has never reached 2002
That is exactly true. There is something fishy going on . Only for EB3-I the dates don't move forward whereas Mexico etc have many more cases than us. It is as if USCIS does not want to give GC's to Indians. I am willing to donate money if there is a way to find out what is going on . This FOIA request output turned out to be a lie in the way USCIS gave us. They should give our money back if they are going to give us false data.
The Congress is too busy with Healthcare to give a damn about us . Then will come CIR if it ever comes and CIR is going to be only for illegals. Anyone in delusion that it is going to help us EB folks is living in a dream world.
What should be our strategy moving forward or can there be any strategy except waiting and waiting.

U.S. Senator: Infosys is a ‘Chop Shop’ - India Real Time - WSJ (http://blogs.wsj.com/indiarealtime/2010/08/06/us-senator-infosys-is-a-chop-shop/)
While discussing an immigration bill on the U.S. Senate floor Thursday, New York Democrat Charles Schumer likened Indian tech giant Infosys Technologies to a “chop shop.”
We’re pretty sure that was a slip. After all, the term “chop shop” refers to shady places of business where people dismantle stolen cars and sell off their parts. Surely he isn’t comparing the legal outsourcing of America’s jobs to the illegal selling of America’s brake pads and V-8 engines?
It is likely the senator was going for “body shop,” also a derogatory term, but one that describes firms who shuffle low-cost tech engineers around the globe.......
Read More (http://blogs.wsj.com/indiarealtime/2010/08/06/us-senator-infosys-is-a-chop-shop/)
What about IBM, Accenture, CSC, GE? Oh I forgot they are high end ones...This is double standards....same like the bill....
If you look at the overall scene....this fees apply for H1/L1 making a difference of $1.5 to $2 worth of billing....Good reasons for companies....If cant get here...then outsource..No fees....end of story, golden goose killed no more golden eggs now.
BTW there is double standards by Indian Companies as well....now they appraoch MEA as they think that bill could hurt them but how about some support for orphans like us (EB backloggers no one supports us, our governments, companies infact they are never in favour of GCs and to add to our insult even there we end up literally donating our Social Security to US citizens once we leave without permanent residency / ctizenship..this is a world of double standards).
