My PD with my previous employer is JUne 2006 and I-140 was approved in August 2006. Since then I have changed the employer and the new employer is in the process of filing PERM again. Would this cut-off date of May 21st 2007 would effect my case. My current employer would be filing a new I-140 at a future date which I don't know at this time.
Somebody please advise me about my scenario.
Yes. If your I-140 is filed in the future. If you are using your old I-140, you have no problem.

Good for you, since there aren't a lot of companies that do that. At most places diversity is just a sham.
Getting an Indian cannot increase "diversity" because Indians are not AT ALL under-represented in these professions. Diversity is limited to people of African American, Hispanic and native Indian origin and also women in many professions.

Seems like IV core thinks they will have some news, but it has not firmed up yet. Let us be patient and support them.
As we can imagine, these things are very fluid on the hill. There is not much we or IV can do.
Let us hope for the best and stop pounding IV core. When there is news for us, they will surely let us know as they have done in the past.

I understand where you are coming from. Let us bear in mind that our primary audience is US lawmakers and the US media. We are not doing this to catch the eyes of Prime Minister of India or the Indian media. We should respect our hosts. Not make them angry and against us. Do we want Lou Dobbs covering our rally with Indians waving Indian Flags as "These invading anti-American aliens from India".
There are some 20 Indians (at least majority of them) who have voted that they won't participate in the DC rally. Some of them may have genuine reasons, who have posted the reasons they can't - child birth etc. I understand their situation. It's okay, they at least they understand the gravity of the situation.
There are others who are busy discussing about which bank offers the best transfer rate to India - Citibank or HSBC? and other mundane stuff. The way Emperor Nero was playing fiddle when Rome was burning. They don't care about their own career and life getting railroaded by Retrogression. Do you think they care about the plight of others just because they happen to be Indians? I won't even mention the odious EBX vs EBY dog-eats-dog fights.
If fellow Indian-origin people don't care about others in the same boat, do you really think an Indian in India or Britain or Canada gives a hoot if we get Green Card or not?
If we start waving the Tricolor, we'll not galvanize the Indians, instead we will only provide inflammable material to anti-Immigrants like Lou Dobbs, Computer World, BusinessWeek etc. to brand Indian Immigrants as "traitorous" and "seditious". No my friend, we should not go there.
Walking dude, I think we both realy galvanized the IV members. I respect waht you said,
but the reason I suggested this my friend was because, the biggest backlog problem is with Indians.
Secondly majority of Doctors, Engineers, Professors, IT consultants are from India.
US knows India is gaining momentum really fast, if we carry our flag we will spread the message of coming from a country which born smartest immigrants in the world and yet we have to suffer in this country.
If our problems are continued to be ignored, then there is a good chance people will return.
Your Input?/

This is in particular reference to the Volunteer recruitment drive. I totally agreee with the IV core group that they alone cannot and infact should not be the flag bearers for this problem. It is our (all registered members) onus to solve this along with them.
I am from Washington State and I have been constant touch with some of the team members. They have helped formulate our strategies.
What have we acheived in Washington
1. We have generated a core group in Washington with about 7-8 people in it. We have an informal structure but most of these people have accountabilities and goals and we meet once every week.
2. We have generated fair amount of awareness among people in the state regarding Immigration voice and its impact on our lives.
3. We have posted IV flyers in most Indian and Asian grocery stores and restaurants.
4. We are in the process of setting up meeting with Senators/Congressmen.
I strongly encourage everyone interested in solving the retrogression issue to join the Conference calls. You will be amazed at the wealth of information california state and IV core group has.

Mirage,Thanks for your support. If IV and everybody agrees, we should concentrate to get these numbers back because this retrogression is the ripple effect of the Amnesty given in year 2000. We should be treated fairly, because the amnesty has affected EB-3 the Most of all. If IV agrees can we get this done ?
Hope we can work on this and hope we can get good results out of this.

My Labor (EB2) was pending through my first employer (Fortune 100 company)...since Jul 2001 and till date no answer...last I heard was it was at the Dallas Backlog processing center...
And then the news came from the employer...lay off....5 years of waiting...all down the drain...
Anyways, picked up the pieces found another job, lawyer filed LC through PERM in Feb 06, just got the labor yesterday Apr 06 in 55 days flat....
Now moving onto I-140...
To be honest, I have lost complete faith in the US immigration system...a country that treats its cream immigrant population so badly, doesn't deserve us...

vdlrao wants to have the honors of opening thread on this issue.:D.
I think there is no way USCIS will approve case from Aug Bulletin now itself.
In stead of making fun of vdlrao, lets just thank him for his analysis. It is easy to mock others, rather taking the initiative of doing some something constructive all by yourself.
Thanks VDLRAO, keep up with the good work.

I called German embassy in Washington DC couple of times in last 2 days. I contacted them thru. the contact form on their website and they called me next day. The Lady clearly told me that transit visa is not required in Frankfurt and Munich while using AP. I asked her for a reference on the website and she again told me forcefully that it is not required.
They are not replying to emails but telling this verbally. I have already purchased tickets and don't know what to do. I mean if the embassy where you would go to get the transit visa is saying that you don't need it then where would could you do?
I am so confused.

I am the one who posted the question, and i didn't specify any amount or any other details. I didn't ask whether I should do that or not.
I didn't do that for money, so i didn't think of payment etc.
I wanted to know just a simpler way of doing it.
Later on, when was criticized / judged/ humiliated, I tried to explain the details and dimension of the problem.
Just to clarify, you guys can continue pouring your criticism.....good luck with that...:-)
Dear here_d,
I am a parent, and my wife is studying at school; When our kid was born, we decided to bring her up ourselves; It hasn't been easy, but it has been rewarding. She is being brought up as an Iranian-American girl; So far, no problems.
Bringing in a Nanny might make your job slightly easier in the short run, but in the long run will make your kid's life a bit harder as he/she will not be brought up with the American culture and will be kind of an outcast, if you will; I mean, our skin color is different; Having a different culture and accent doesn't exactly help either. I don't want the same thing for my kid. Do you?
The other question (and it is an honest question, not any sort of attack or anything) is that why do you insist in living and bringing up your child in US if you do not want to assimilate in the 'melting pot'? The only reason that I try to give a bit of Iranian culture to my daughter is because I don't want her not to be able to connect with the relatives in the old country. Oh well...

When it comes to things like this I think we should know for a fact.. Please don't get me wrong, I will send flowers if the IV core recommends (because I have faith that they would have checked the legality of this issue).. it may not be a crime, but no body knows that for a fact yet.. I tried to do some research but could not find anything yet...
We are not doing any crime here..we r just sending the flowers...and we are expressing our feelings...i think there is no offense in this.
correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks,
Chandra.

Now that there is some media attnetion on it ahead of July 10, do you think Emilio will not accept any flowers?? Did this work to the flower idea's benefit?
Alright friends, so we now have a lead item on Times of India on this effort.

Can we now have some of the Nays turn into Ayes? We now have proof that this effort is attracting media's attention, we now have proof that it is viable. Can we please make it a smashing success by getting great numbers?

If you really want to do some fund raising,
an Indian music concert wont be a bad idea.I know this community has people other than Indian, but for collecting money from more people, not a bad idea. A concert can be organized with may be $20 entry fee per person and everything goes to IV.
I have attended concerts of some Desi bands performing in Bay Area and they were pretty good.Music brings everyone more together than anything else.
