Check out immigrationportal site. In the I-140 section , you will find some experience similar to yours. You might have to submit an educational evaluation to cofirm that what you did id equal to a 4 year degree in US. Also, the requirement in LC would be important. If it says equivalent or foreign equivalent for degree , you will have more luck. Post your question in IP site and someone who is undergoing/has undergone similar situation can guide you better.
Also my personal opinion is if you can reword "BSc+PG diploma from NIIT or across the street computer institute as equivalent to US BS degree" , it might sound better. Afterall most of the folks who might be able to help you better on this may be the across the street ones. Just my opinion.

When did ur application reached USCIS. I am july 2nd filer. They told me same story 1 month back they going to finish by Oct 30th and agaon told me on Nov 5th. Now they are telling Nov 20th.
I lost the trust on them.
The application package reached on July 27th, will be calling them in a few will post what they are saying now

How do we add this info in the IV tracker ?
Click on 'quick links' on top right. In the dropdown, click edit profile.
We need PD information and stage of GC process information so that we can create an analysis document and show the powers that be how much backlogged people are in the process.
Maybe when we answer a post, we make it a habit to ask people to update profiles with such details. What do you think about this ? Also, Some people reported some bugs in the tracker. If you find bugs or have suggestions to improve IV tracker please PM me. We will improve it.

I came to US without any goals in 1996, started working in 1999
applied for GC in 2000, company screwed me in terms of labor and GC and got laid off in 2001 (dot com bankrupcy). Waiting since then with a PD of mid 2002. Took part in all IV related activities till the EB2 Vs EB3 nonsense started.
OK Now you are the grand father of all in the Q. Are there any one who has still an older PD?

Mine got denied last year for these reasons and i have been on EAD since then.
1. Petitioner is not in compliance with the terms and conditions of
employment.
2. Petitioner does not qualify as either an Employer or Agent - Not eligible
to file an H1-B Petition.
3. Petitioner is not an Agent.
4. Petitioner is required to submit a valid LCA for all work locations.
5. Position is not a Speciality Occupation.
Infact it is a 12 page denial letter, these are just bullet points of it.
Although I feel sorry for the people who got their H1s denied, it looks like USCIS is getting tough on these sweatshops. Most of the time, these companies file an LCA for a particular location and place them every where. That is a violation.
Hope they get as tough on these BOGUS EB2 green card petitions as well.

Thanks to delay in my GC and layoffs, even after doing MS from a good US university, I had to go back to few US community colleges. Between university and the community college classes I did not find much difference in the class room teachings, home work assignments and sincerity of the teachers. I think the research money spent by a university brings the good name to that University.
In my understanding, whatever university you pick in the USA to study will not turn out to be a bad one, if it offers the course work you want to study. The difference in the US universities is not like difference between IIT in India and some no-name run of the mill technical Institute mushrooming lately at every corner in India.
After working in IT field for this many years, if you really want to go back to university and want to pursue knowledge...you will always love yourself for making this decision. Going to US university as a serious Indian student is just a priceless experience….that is my opinion.

Hello all,
I finally got my receipt number after 51/2 months.Who knowa how long it will take them now to approve my EAD.Anyway I am happy to see that and I wish you all luck.I just want to share with you how did USCIS find my paper work.My attorney contacted a cogressman,I contacted a senator and a town representative.They all call TSC and requested to pull out my paper file from the archives,because I file conccurently I140/I485.And of course my I485 package was there.I am so mad.Some one over looked my papers and never separated them so I never got my receipt and my case in that matter.So hopefully now they will be fast in approving my I765 and I 131.I need to go home.It has been 7.5 years.Can't wait.

1) Few have come forward and sent those flowers...
2) Most are cautious to the extent of paranoia. (I guess they fear that their GC applications would be rejected by USCIS if they do this?)
3) Few are waiting for approval from the core members!
4) Few that profess support but haven't done anything yet...
5) Few that believe this is a waste of time

Group 2: This campaign will be a success if we can convince group 2 to take the chance (not that USCIS will come after everyone anyways.. they are not the IRS!).
Group 3: I guess they are afraid of making a mistake... - The core members cannot and will not endorse this campaign. Because if they do.. then it becomes the "official" stand of IV. So don't wait around looking for their approval... and we cannot succeed without you! So please take the chance!
Group 4: Act now! Put your money where your mouth is!
Group 5: This will not be a waste of time if we have enough support from all of you!

Everyone knows, nowsdays schools are producing graduate students according to funding rather than job opportunities. Majors like biology have this tendency most, and the job market for them is the worst.

I landed in Canada as a PR on Apr 4th. I had to return to the US to finish some stuff before taking a vacation and the experience was unforgettable. At the US border office I was quizzed (more like beat up)for about a half hour. The US officer in charge made a copy of my Canadian Landing paper and said that I can't have residency in 2 countries. He said that he was going to stop my residency process in the US, in spite of the fact that I have not even started the US green card process (Labor certification pending) and had applied for Canadian PR at least a year before my employer applied for my labor cert (changed employers). I thought that he would refuse me entry to the US, but luckily after a lot of pleading that I need to finish things up in US, he gave me entry. I repeatedly asked the officer who gave me the I-94 as to what effect will this have on my 140 and potential 485 to which he replied "Your processing is done. You need to leave or we are going to call the cops"
So all of you guys/girls with AOS pending, beware, these are not good times to land in Canada with a PR. Heck, I've not even started my green card process, yet the guy gave me so much of angst and made the 1/2 hr a living hell for me. This is after I've lived 9 years in the US as a law abiding and tax paying person.
Now I believe those guys who say that POE officers are behaving very badly nowadays, given the economy. They've appointed themselves as "guardians" of the US from "invading foreign hordes" and interpreting the law whichever way they see fit. :mad:
