Increasing "Fraud prevention fee" and then NOT using that "fee" to do anything related to detecting and preventing H1B visa fraud.

Is the CIR going to happen now or not? We keep hearing news going back and forth. No one seems to realize the human element involved in all this and the lives being impacted by this.

Hi all,
DO you think I can get a waiver for my spouse chest xray (in pregnancy).
She came postive in the skin test. I just want to avoid the xray at this moment.
How does USCIS takes it. Can it be done after the delivery (october 07) ? She is the principle applicant (her PD is better than mine). Do you see any issues with EADs APs.
Pls suggest,

I would suggest for people who know others/friends who might have suffered, to post all details (POE, date, time, visa status, reason cited if any etc) and then IV members could raise this issue. I am sure each one of us will join in the fight if there needs to be any.

If you have the phone numbers/address call or mail the affected individuals to collect the details. IV could then evaluate the justification for such action and if it is indeed truely some random officer playing discriminating behaviour, it has to be dealt with.

No, my checks have not been cashed. The funny part is that NCS told you that as soon you notice that your checks have been cashed you have to calle them. But, as soon as you notice that your receipts will be on their way, and usually the TSC put the case number in the back of the ckeck.

You are not supposed to travel at the time of filing I 485. after filing I 485 you may be able to but I do not know exactly

Long time for my wife. We applied together in early Dec 2009. Mine came in a month. USPS pigeon post lost my wife's receipt notice. USCIS since keep us stuck for the last 6 months. Infopass did not help, tons of calls and emails to USCIS did not help much either. I got hold of one R. Hill Johnson send her reapplication without any fees and in the cover letter explained the ineptness of USCIS. Not sure what happened at TSC, but almost a week after that reapplication we got an email that the case (with initial SRC#) was re-approved and we should get a notice in mail soon. Time for us to pray every day that this time we actually get it.

Ok, it seems really hard to have a rational discussion about this topic.
To me its very clear:
1. If you go back to India you will miss a lot of things like security/uninterrupted electricity/running hot water/etc...
2. If you live in US you will miss your close and extended family/festivals/culture/etc.
For those who can live without family network and are fine living in a foreign land can live in US in the long term. These ppl will lead a relatively materialistic lifestyle and keep acquiring more stuff like houses/fancy cars/etc. in the long run.
Those who really miss family and feeling of being at home will go back but go thru a lot of pain. Emotional ppl are all set to feel the pain of missing family in US/pain of relocation when they try to go /and then pain of lack of facilities once they get there.
Very true observation. I feel that wherever one lives, its impossible to be completely satisfied. Ultimately it will come down to some hard choices, and what people are willing to live with/without.

I understand we need a channalized approach, can IV team take over the task? I saw the democratic debate and there were 2800 questions posed by neumerous people on various problems like immigration, healthcare etc.

I would love to paticipate provided these two conditions are met
1) Warmer weather would get more people for the rally and numbers mean a lot when it is a rally. I would go anytime between mid April and mid September.
2) I will not join if participants are encouraged to wear those IV T-shirts. I have nothing against the IV T-shirt but formal attire goes a long way in the east coast especially when we are high skilled immigrants. Atleast a neat office wear should be the dress code.
If these two conditions are satisfied I am in for the rally and the lobby day.
PS: I am not trying to be picky but trying see this rally sends a strong message to the lawmakers and the citizens.
There are no Conditions, if you have these terms, you can sit home and watch IV representing our rights. We don't need whiners in this battle,
IV is about Unity and Fighting for the EB community. cold or not cold, there are members whoa re bringing their small children in the cold, they didn't ask for this, but their is a greater cause they want to fight for.
So, ones who have question, stay home and watch IV win, but I assure you, we will win for the ones who stuck by us.

Will this recapture employment based immigrant visas lost by USCIS or only family based.... Didn't seem too clear to me. Pg 22... seems more focused on family based to me (not that I have anything against family based).
