I came back on Nov. 20th after 3 weeks.. No questions asked.. finger printing and out.. had a valid H1B stamped on passport. My wife and son came back on Dec. 30th after 3 weeks again this time at Chicago..No questions asked..everything went smooth..

Company lawyer conveniently is on vacation till July 15th. And he was already a pain in the butt to deal with, screwed up our 140 already (I mean which lawyer screws it up, right!). I had to walk him through our case again and again. I mean I might as well do the AOS myself since he does nothing except do the G-28 and mail it out and I do the filling up of all forms and photocopies. Besides you should never piss off a pregnant woman!
My only concerns are receiving RFE which I will get one anyways for incomplete medical as I'm pregnant right now but that's expected. Other than that, I''m pretty confident that with help especially from competent individuals in this forum who've already been through the process can help me along the way, if I have any questions and I inturn will shed light on whatever (probably little) I know.
My other major concern is doing a CC case as I go under worldwide. My husband being the primary and all categories becoming current as of July, they might just ignore our CC request altogether and file us under India. Why bother you might ask! We might get EAD and AP if all goes well but might get stuck under the GC process if the dates retrogress further back than it was in June for India. However, I'm still going to take my chance of filing under CC and make a big enough statement on top of the application of CC and sent a separate copy requesting CC as well and ask the case to be reviewed by a Mailroom Supervisor from the get-go.
Any advice about what I can do differently or just about any advice will be appreciated. Sorry for the long post.

Hi,
i never had 10K at a time but i have been paying off 1500 every month for HOME loan.
Is it 10K per year or 10k any time During Our stay in US ?

AP got approved today around 7:45am PDT. I had logged in earlier in the morning and status was still "Initial Review", refreshed it a few mins later while working on something else - lo and behold the LUD date had changed to 11/18 and case status had changed to document production or Oath Ceremony....so now I can travel on 11/28.
Thanks to call for their help and comments
When is the receipt date of yours? And which service center is that?
My receipt date is 8/14, and I called to request for expedite last fri, 11/20, and hear nothing yet. I guess i have to reschedule my flight, that sucks.

Guys, I have known atleast 10 of my friends who had travelled to India and returned in the past week through different POEs EWR, JFK, IAD, PHL and no one had any issues of any sort. Yes, they are on different statuses....EAD, H1B; some in their first year some with 8+ yrs extension waiting for GC.
I am sharing this information to let people known who are planning for a vacation or for someone presently outside the country, reading this post and worrying about reentry.I am not saying that you may not have issues...yes if the documents are not valid then US immigration officers have every right to send you back.
I was myself a victim of these kind of rumours back in May'09. If we go back you can find lot of threads discussing the same issue during the Mar-May'09 timeframe and I was foolish enough to get pulled into these and spent time worrying about these prior to the vacation, during the vacation and on my flight back as well. At POE(EWR) no question was asked and was done with the stampting in less than 2 mins. Did I mention that I went for VISA renewal as well during my trip and oh..I forgot I didn't even have EAD/AP as back up to re-enter.
Been there, gone through that, and is certainly not worth. If you have proper documents , ignore the rumours..GO AND ENJOY YOUR VACATION......

Looks like those who efiled are getting approved much faster. In our company all immigration matters are handled by our immigration lawyers (Fragomen) and this really seems to have slowed things down further. They sat on it for nearly a month and now my case shows it was received on the 19th of Oct, but hasn't been updated since 10/22 and is still "Initial Review". whereas yours was received after mine and has been approved much faster. I just hope I get in the next 3 weeks, i am thinking of getting a Infopass and head to the local USCIS office in the coming week. Could someone please advise, I really need to be in India at the end of this month. Is it advisable to travel without the AP and have my friend mail them to me by courier to my address in India?

shanmuganathan - I see nothing wrong in people questioning the credibility of IV or asking what happens to the funding. I also don't see anything wrong in IV not wanting to disclose its tax in public forum.
As far as I am concerned, IV is a organization that people must make best use of as a platform and thats why I stress on active participation.
I appreciate all your efforts, and would advice you not to get into things like "donors must only ask", or "How much have you contributed" or anything that goes on between IV as an organization and members. Instead, as a good IV member and a responsible citizen who wants to bring change, you must focus on encouraging and educating members. If a member has concerns about the organization, you can let the organization deal with it rather than attacking the member. Everyone is different and people may genuinely have questions or concerns. IV knows and deals with people appropriately.
If IV requests members to raise funds for projects like advocacy days, as a key member, you can do wonders by spreading the message and asking people to donate and actively participate in campaigns.

Looks like, we are getting traction for this idea among us. We can try to do the same to explain this to Lawmakers. Thought from IV core group will be appreciated.
Now if we have a campaign targetting that 290k illegals are ahead of the legal and because of that legals have to wait that could get some good support. Most of the lawmakers will support this as they want their voting base to know that they support legal immigration and are against amnesty.

American Senator/Congressman - The need for the higher skilled Indians and chinese is being taken care of by the higher education clause, so why should I make it easier for people without those skills to come to US? The way I see it, I need the Indians and chinese to help me in the R&D labs, and in some high end technology/business.
We have to actually explain to them that STEM does not take care of all EB that is good for America. There are people who have skill set that is also very valuable. And ofcourse, we are not talking about people with no educational backgrounds here - the EB category requires at least a Bachelors. So it is not only R&D labs - there are jobs for which there are no takers in the American Labor Market.

whether they are concerned with only a part of it or not, the fact that it appears on their website implies an endorsement of his views. if they are claiming there is a problem with H-1bs, then they need something to fix it, and matloff provides that.
this is exactly why we have to take advantage of it, and say that matloff also suggests this proposal for reform.
by the way, this would greatly benefit new H-1bs since it does not limit them to one employer. when you get out into the workforce you will understand how important that is
