If you want to know what is on the 120Gb hdd read this (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/13122/Xbox-360-120-GB-HDD-Content-Revealed/).
That will instantly be lost as soon as you transfer your old HDD across.

This isn't really all that shocking to be honest. The costs of new tech are always higher at first, but when a big player finally pushes it, the prices drop dramatically.

Actually, they do have a discount. My roommate got tiger half price cuz his powerbook was bought less than 3 months ago or something. Just keep those papers and vouchers that came with your Mac.
That's interesting. I have never heard of this before. This could push me over the edge to get a Mac Pro sooner than later. Is this discount/upgrade pricing documented anywhere??

Yeah I think this might be the source of peoples Temp increases. Basically some core duo chips stop updating the temp value when they go into a particular powersaving mode.
So when the machine wakes from sleep the cpu will update the temp for a few secs and then stop.
Anyway I've not had change to update my Macbook yet to see if the temp issue is fixed for me.
The question is now is has the bug been fixed by preventing the core duo from entering the powersaving mode? This could probably make chips run hotter?
For more info google intel and AE18 the id of the bug.

Apple's response will be to delay the movie download service for about 1 year just to make it look like Steve Beeks didn't know what he's talking about.
I hope I'm wrong about that.
No, you're right-- it'll be remembered as the "asteroid" of 2006.

Hmm.. Mine does that as well but I thought that was a result of the latest jailbreak... Could be wrong... Anyone?
I had the same problem exactly after the latest jailbreak.

Anyone bought the 11" Air even though they knew the 13" may of been a better choice and far as productivity and spec's are concerned?
I had both, I choose the 13" MBA for 'practical reasons' ... I'm on my computer a LOT, a larger screen typically means more productivity, more power can come in handy, as can the larger HD and SD slot .... and the 13" isn't really that much less portable than the 11".
Decision made, right? Wrong.
I really miss the 11. What is it that is so damn compelling? For me it's not the price difference ... it's just that perfect size I guess ... so super easy to grab and go, do work on, it just works and is inviting to use, perhaps the most inviting notebook I've ever used.
Anyone else feel the same way or have the same experience?
If so what size did you end up with and why?

I just wish I had an "all of the above" option since these things are usually clustered (failed calls...poor voice quality once the call finally goes through...etc). I'll put it in the comments for now, but it would be nice to have the option to prevent the data from getting skewed towards one option. I'd prefer not to have to submit the same report 5 times for each area.

Based on murmurings and mooings on the pro sites, I reckon Apple will lose some customers to Avid, if they had originally come from Avid some time in the last 10 years. They're talking about going back to Avid, not to Avid.
I also reckon every kid who has used iMovie in the last few years will start using FCP X in about July. This is the next generation of video editors, and they will far outnumber Avid users. They will be making movies for web distribution. They will be flooding the film schools. They will also have the mad skillz (look at me, sounding like a teenager :D) to turn things over really quickly, something which is appreciated in today's editing environment.
Apple has built FCP X for people who have never used film and probably never will so the metaphor needed to go. Bye-bye bins, hello "smart folders". And a big hello to the do-deca-core, 8TB, 32GB Mac Pro everyone can now justify purchasing.
i second this as well.
as a side note, most of the editors i know don't think twice about switching back and forth btn fcp and avid based on the project /client requirements regardless of their particular preference.
ultimately the result of apples move will only come to light after the software is released and peeps get their hand on it. everything now is just looking at screenshots.

when it comes to the "survival of the fittest", it may well be that the "fittest" is a person who can work well with other people within a social environment
Exactly.
Adults that can survive on their own.
Do you honestly think that the whole concept of society came about thousands of years ago because of coincidence? Or because there just wasn't enough room on the planet for every family to be isolated and self-sufficient? In terms of almost every single conceivable situation, humans can do more together than they can alone. There is no weakness in relying on each other in times of prosperity or catastrophe - in either situation people can achieve more as a tight-knit, empathetic group. Where the group falls apart is when the whole "gotta get mine" and "screw that family, I have to look out for my own spouse/kids" mentalities enter into it.
In the USA, I would argue that we treat each other like **** even under normal conditions a lot of the time. The absolutely inspiring thing about the Japanese (and what I assume was the point of this thread) is that they seem to have not sunk to our level, even in the darkest, most panic-filled, survival-mode scenario imaginable. Their culture is surely imperfect, but even if this story is exaggerated and sugar-coated, it would still be amazing even as half-truth.
A country used to looting other countries, should not be surprised when it happens at home.
Oof. The truthfulness of that stung a bit. ;)

didn't it used to be blue back in the day?
I changed mine to a custom icon ages ago, so it doesn't reallty matter to me. ;) I know at one point it was green though (current version?) so this sounds like it's probably a minor change.

I'm sorry... it's just ugly. Now, if the screen defaulted to a matching white as well then perhaps it'd look better. In the meantime I'll stick to the black monolithic unit.

Sweet! Does 3g unrestrictor work for this too??
Don't know what that is (going to assume it's a jailbroken app), but the EyeTV app works officially in both 3G and Wi-fi environments.
And for all the newbies that can't turn on NAT-PMP, a screen shot is attached. It's exactly the same for AirPort Express too. If you don't have an Apple router, turn on UPNP in your router's settings (it's probably turned on by default). This is the same technology that requires "Back to My Mac" to work.

Anti-phishing measures implemented in Safari can only be a good thing and I'm delighted to see them.
And as for the finder - any improvement there is good. Let's hope there's more of this gradual improvement to come.

Hey-
Probably s stupid question, but with all the members here... and, what, 300 apple stores, no one has seen what is in the back rooms or anything of the apple stores?
They are shipped black wrapped, and the manager of the store has to authorize their being opened. So, generally, it's hard to get a leak that way.

I have used my MBP multiple times to give presentations in my high school. The first time I did it, one IT "expert" did have a problem with it. I basically confronted him on it (this was in front of the Principal, who was attending the presentation) and told him straight out that he was wrong. His argument was the typical, "Macs aren't Windows, they can't be used in a network because they are insecure" argument. I told him he was wrong. And he stopped.

That is utterly ridiculous.
Yes, personal responsibility is such a ridiculous concept. Society should be responsible for keeping people out of trouble, never should people have to think for themselves or suffer the consequences of their bad judgement call.
You're right Skunk.
