I've noticed that the 8GB iPhone 3GS model is now on pre-order from Canada's online Apple Store. Ships by June 24. Cost is $549 with NO CONTRACT. You can choose your carrier afterward.
The iPhone has never been available from Canada's online store before. You always had to purchase through a carrier (with a contract). The carriers in Canada are BELL, TELUS, and ROGERS.

If the employees want to keep their jobs and the store's good standing relationship with Apple, they won't willingly tell you about an unannounced product. Plain and simple. That's how they're trained to respond and they're not going to tell you a secret just because you asked nicely.
Yeah that's definitely a valid point. I'm hoping that's whats going on, certaintly seemed like that was the case with the Apple store employee I spoke with.
You'd think apple would make an announcement by now if it was really going to be released tomorrow. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Somebody told me the old shuffle automatically converted songs into 128kbs AAC while you are adding it to the shuffle, even if they were of a much higher bitrate or saved in another format. I wonder if the new one does the same thing. It would be nice to keep my songs ALAC on my harddisk without wasting too much memory when I add it to the shuffle, where sound quality does not matter much.

Since when does Apple try to lower prices by making something less elegant and appealing to a wide audience? Price is no restrictor (compared to others)!!! :)

Can anyone tell me what kind of RAM I have to buy for a late 2008 MBP? On Crucial it won't tell me because their website thinks that this machine only supports 4 GB... Can I just get the 8GB RAM kit for the mid-2009 MBPs?

Hah! Whoops, sorry about that. Seasons and prices are two things I always quote relative to what applies to me. So summer = January, Autumn = March and Leopard will likely cost $199.
It's only when someone from the US asks "how much will Leopard cost" I'll answer in US$. But I make sure to write US$xxx.
But back to the topic at hand, I really don't see this early release some people are craving happening for Leopard.
Apple got stung a bit in the media on the release of 10.4 due to a number of bugs present for power users and computer-savvy people ie. the people most likely to voice their opinions on forums and chat sites - in the initial 10.4.0 release.
I never had anything I could class as a bug, a few annoyances re: somewhat slower, joining wireless networks after waking from sleep etc. but nothing that was going to hamper my use. The power users found some serious bugs and voiced their concerns all over the net, concerns the media picked up on and ran some fairly sensationalist headlines about.
I would assume Apple will want to reduce those stories with the release of Leopard and I for one would much rather see a really stable, fast and confidence-boosting 10.5.0 in March than a somewhat buggy release in January that takes till March to reach a feeling of maturity with the release of 10.5.1 and 10.5.2 in the interim.

I didin't get my ram from crucial, but I did use that spec from their site for the ram. Just match the spec of the ram and you should be fine.

Expect software announcements at an Apple special event on 30 January (the consumer release date for Vista, as if you didn't know already). There Steve will talk about Leopard's Top Secret features and the new iLife suite, just so that once MS have stopped kicking themselves after the release of the iPhone and the bruises are starting to heal, they can do it all over again. See Zunes and Vista in bargain bins all over the world (I know that Zunes are only on sale in the US at present, but in order to get rid of stock they will be put on sale everywhere without any software support whatsoever).
As if M$ even wanted to make a phone, why on earth would they be kicking themselves? They've had a phone OS since before this iPhone dud was even conceived.

Outlook has constantly crashed, failed to send messages and has been super slow syncing with our exchange server. I moved all my stuff over to Mail and iCal for the time being. I may give SP1 a chance though.

I think that Apple, Inc. will having a special event for other new product launches. If they do have one of these special events then I can very well see iLive '07 and a briefing of Leopard. I do not expect to see any hardware updates cause the lines have been updated not too long ago. I wouldn't get all huffy and puffy about certain products were not announced or talked about. Apple, Inc. probably has a very good reasons to why they make their keynote soley about the iPhone.

the way the gauges work is weird, smallest is 20, but your most common is 18, the lower the number the bigger the size. its weird, i know. i can't squirt anything through my labret, its only a 14.... maybe if it was 12 or bigger. so 2 would be a bit more than double what i have now...

I wanted to load the stream, but my quicktime player said, i've to update to QuickTime 7.1.3 first.... Does Quicktime 7.1.3 already exist?! I lokked at the Apple Website, and there was no update in the Software downloadsection.....

I've always thought all along that Apple was going to have to pay Nokia something or settle this simply because other cell phone manufacturers using similar technology have already settled with Nokia.
The question now is why has Apple been so stubborn? Do they know something we don't or are they risking the farm on this one?
With the Nokia/Microsoft deal in place, is it possible Nokia had no intention of ever settling with Apple like they did with other cell phone manufacturers? Hmm, makes me wonder.
And of course, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop which will be Apple filing another lawsuit against Nokia after losing the first round of their countersuit.
And anyone know what's going on with the Apple lawsuit against HTC? That could conceivably have broad implications on the entire Android OS itself and Google.

There isn't an analogy more apt than buying an old, cheap gas guzzler. You think you're making out okay, but over the long run, the "cheap" option could be more expensive.
I was being conservative with my estimates - if you live in an electricity-expensive part of the US, price per kWh could be 50-60% more than the 9c I used in my example. If you do anything other than letting he G5 sit idle, you'll consume electricity even more inefficiently. Depending on usage, you could easily hit $200-$250 as the cost of running a dual G5 for a year. A Mini doing the same tasks won't even hit $50. Over two years, the cost will be $300-400 more over a Mini. In three years, $450-$600. There's not cost advantage there anymore. Not only that, in those three years, you'll have been running on an increasingly unsupported platform.
If cost isn't your game, then go to town. But then don't pretend like price is your primary concern when it isn't. I have two unused G5 Power Mac towers that I bought used for mod projects just because I like the case design.

Picked up a copy of this up on Amazon. They have a $20 gift card deal going on. Plus if you buy the Playstation 3 version (and sync your PSN and Steam IDs) you can download a free copy of the game for your PC or Mac. So that's about $35 for the game and a $20 gift card, plus free shipping (2 day shipping for Prime members) and no tax? That's a good deal in my book. :D
