How come no one specially democrats never talk about problems of legal immigrants? As much as I like democrats, they are starting to annoy me by just talking about illegals. On the other hand, repubs only talk about the needs of businesses and have the attitude of never mind the legal folks.
I think we need to work with Green party :). Man.. are we ever stuck. All of a sudeen the multi-party system in India sounds far better political system than the 2 party system in U.S. Let's add that as one of the IV goals to change the political system in the U.S. to be a multi-party system :).

For the people who wants to know what happened at Medical examination then here is my story.
Today me and my wife went to Concentra Medical center at Milwaukee, WI.
They didnt look at our ID but only asked for I-94. We gave our 797 form for current status check and I-94 both. Later Nurse took us to check our 1) Blood pressure 2) Pulse rate 3) did Skint test 4) took blood for HIV/STD testing. Nurse took around 15 minutes for each person.
Later Civil Sergeon came and started checking my body start with 1) hands 2) told me to jump for once 3) Raise each leg one at a time 4) Checked my Eyes, Ear, nose 5) Checked my heart beats and lungs from outside. Overall Civil Surgeon took 20 minutes for each of us.
Since I did not had any record of my earlier vaccination Nurse/Dr. Reccomend me to take Tetanus, MMR and Vaicella. For my wife Nurse recommend to take both Tetanus and MMR only.
Overall for Medical Examination it cost me $160 per person. Now I have option to take this vaccination at same center for Tetanus-$27, MMR-$67 and Varicell -$100.00 or I can call up County health center to get it done at cheaper rate.
Now Skin test result will come in 2 days. I can drop by on Thursday or Friday to know the result. If Skin test is positive then I/my wife both have to go for X-Ray which they charge $52 per person.
Overall it will cost me around $254(for my wife) and $354 for me to get this Medical paper signed and done. Hope above information will help others who are waiting to go for Medical examination.

No offenses to you though but , not sure what are you going to discover after finding the answer that how long yuo still need to wait? I dont know how is it going to help us reduce the backlog
no offense taken. but getting an accurate picture might help to determine a more detailed timeframe as to when i can expect my 485 approval. if it looks like it is going to take longer, then i might need to start looking at other options such as porting to EB2. If Mexico's cut off dates are nowhere close to the actual pending applications, maybe the Department of State can also move the cut off dates for India, thereby enabling those that did not apply for EAD to get one (not that it is going to help me coz I already have mine).

This is crooked election year politics. To hide their inefficiency to create jobs, failed stimulus and failed policies in last 10 yrs, now these guys are doing a cover-up using silly provisions like this.
Instead of this, they should have focussed on improving the standards of hyper expensive, poor quality - school level and undergraduate education in USA. But, who cares about the country beyond mid-term elections, presidential elections and re-elections. Same story in India and USA. Teachers want salaries, colleges want tutions to pay over-hyped salaries but no-one wants to deliver quality education in return.
If someone is thinking that, this is happening to Infy and Wipro, then mind that this is just the beginning. Democrats should understand that, it is impossible to win over cry-babies who think that "all immigrants are here either to steal the job or be on well-fare". How can you win over someone who think that 1965 immigration law to allow latinos and asians itself is a main reason for this crisis? But, dems are not in favor of legal immigration and repubs are already taken over by right forces on immigration.
First of all, I don't care about indian outsourcers and american body-shops if they abuse the system. And I don't support them. If they exist, they should be brought to justice.
Have said the above, how easy is to bypass this law? Answer - very easy. Today, to start a new "international" company is very simple. As long as these current companies make sure that their american employees (citizens and visa employees) work for this new company which carefully balance 50-50 rule and get visas; they can continue to "buy" services from them. And these additional visa costs are meagre compares to their profits and most likely they will pass these costs to their clients and still be profitable. This 600M plan is a waste of time and is an election year puppet talk.
Lawmakers cannot distinguish between goods and services and are out-of-date with 21st century; so they still keep creating these laws to win people over. People might get fooled as majority also don't understand this. Outsourcing is a reality which is here to stay as long as USA corporations continue to face high operating costs and are expected to pay hefty pay for a typical work to a labor (which paid large sums in student loans for peanuts and got nothing significant in return). Today, job pay is proportional not to how much you paid in student loans but is proportional to what skills you bring to the table which are related to that particular job and the company.
You need charged minds and dedicated resources which think beyond money - to create a generation which makes a difference. USA has seen such examples in the past and they can surely do it as their nature democracy allows them to do such change. They need that kind of revolution in education now, so that they can start reaping benefits in a generation time. But, this also means overhauling education system.
Are they ready for this?

As far as I understand it, it is a credit for your 2008 tax which is already paid in 2008
and not in 2009. But different from exemptions on a W-4, you don't have to return
this credit if you don't qualify next year. It is a real tax credit. In 2001 there
was not a credit but a change in the tax system and you could get an advance
rebate.
It's a free lunch if you measure it in Dollars you receive. In reality it is just
newly "printed" money. So the dollar will have less value (inflation) and a person
who doesn't get the "rebate" is cheated. The economy will collapse anyhow.
I am not sure if you are 100% correct or not. The language of the bill uses similar text to 2001 (as said on other websites) and the key word is advance refunds. Here is the relevant text if any one has some time to chew on. read the text in size 4. It tells me that it is going back to uncle sam. A double whammy if you owe taxes next year.
(f) Coordination With Advance Refunds of Credit-
`(1) IN GENERAL- The amount of credit which would (but for this paragraph) be allowable under this section shall be reduced (but not below zero) by the aggregate refunds and credits made or allowed to the taxpayer under subsection (g). Any failure to so reduce the credit shall be treated as arising out of a mathematical or clerical error and assessed according to section 6213(b)(1).
`(2) JOINT RETURNS- In the case of a refund or credit made or allowed under subsection (g) with respect to a joint return, half of such refund or credit shall be treated as having been made or allowed to each individual filing such return.

This is in regards w/ Porting/retention of Priority date. I have 2 approved I-140. 1st one PD was 9/2001, EB-3, I was in I.T. (company long gone, and i left as a network support). My 2nd I-140 PD is 12/2006, also EB-3, now a registered nurse. Can I use my earlier PD. I have both the letters saying "this petition has been approved."
I would like to take advantage of this PD Porting so to make sure, I checked the first one's case status, now it's saying the status has changed. I was thinking maybe that I-140 was re-used. But wouldn't I still be able to use that priority date?
Any response via would be very much appreciated. As you know, current dates for EB-3 has retrogressed. I'm from Philippines. Thank you again.

I think this con no longer holds true for many folks on this forum, since there are many who are approaching 10 years on H1-B itself. SS has no requirement that you have GC/citizenship to reclaim your pension, just that you work 10 years.
CONS:
if you go back, you lose your SS benefit/pension. you need at least 10 work years to avail of it. the SS check would be a great pocket money when you retire and lived in your home country.
this is one of the conspiracy theory that they screw us with immigration so that we can't claim the SS benefit/pension. we are funding their retirement. so, don't let their xenophobic lazy ass enjoy your years of hardwork. fight the fight...at least up to 10 years.

I was working in India in a pretty good company but I was experiencing red tapism, nepotism and all the standard problems of a job culture of India. Here in America, we have only one "Seemingly very horrible" problem of immigration problem. But the good part is, it is common to a lot of people ! So why not to fight for it through a common plateform like this one !
I think that is also one rational solution among others.

Yes PlainSpeak has always done this before. Even though we give a logical explanation, he/she will always start a new fight.
No normal person posts 50+ messages per day (so far). Most of them starting a fight with someone.
