I'm glad I got my ticket this morning. Holy crap! Less than 12 hours to sell out? That's just insane.

I was praying that the headline was "Apple to Introduce new dock connector."
The current dock connector SUCKS. It's way too hard to plug into, especially on the iPad 2, with it's tapered edge. It feels flimsy and I dread plugging anything into it for fear of breakage/bending of the pins.
I was really hoping that Apple would redesign it using MagSafe as their inspiration.
Agreed flimsy AND the cable connection always breaks at the plug parts where the cable meets the plastic.
I wish they had options to connect the cable on the sides as well as bottom.
also teh screened on "front" printing disappears after a while.
So, I scratch a box around the sign. That way I can "feel" the right side in the dark.
Apple should mold that into the plug..

Why do you live there? It sounds an awful lot like you are blaming someone else for the poor choices you've made.
Since the other thread was closed, i decided to reply to your ignorance in this thread. I hope you realize how ignorant you sound. Who the hell are you to judge my choices and decide i've made poor choices? Do you know my circumstances? No. Maybe i live in my parents house, maybe i don't go to a university but a community college instead. No dorms at community colleges. I live 20 minutes away from it. By your logic nobody should ever live in the suburbs. What an idiotic remark.

Well, I can get 22% off a Verizon plan, that sort of thing might matter. Although, I don't want a 3G iPad, so....no matter to me.
* Also, crap DNS speed really throws many people for surfing, anyway. The internet's dirty little secret. I wonder how many millions don't realize they could be faster by typing a couple digits into setup.
Jat.... didn't know this. Made the change and not sure about speed, but it fixed another issue I had where one of my business partner web sites was getting blocked. Thanks for the tip!

The fact that a big sticking point in all of this was the social conservative nonsense about abortions and planned parenthood is just ridiculous. If this is all that many of our politicians can think about in times like these, we're ********** doomed.
My sentiments exactly. Of course you can look around you and thank all the idiots who voted the idiots into office.

Why do you guys assume Nvidia cannot make graphic cards for Sandy Bridge? Have you seen Dell's Alienware laptop line? They have the new processors and also are using Nvidia graphics card.
NVidia can make graphics cards but they cannot make chipsets. The 320M is the chipset as well. There are only two chips in the logic board, the CPU and 320M. With a discrete GPU, there would have to be three chips; CPU, PCH and GPU. Since space is very limited in MBA, there is simple no space for all three chips.

Good idea using the Terminal. You could also use Network Utility if you want a GUI driven app.

I sure hope that Apple does a bang up job of updating Mail.App for Leopard. I like the GUI to Mail but have to admit that it causes me a lot of grief that I've never experienced before with other mail clients...
My fingers are crossed.

Earlier this week I received an email with 2 keys, and will gladly give one away.
I used one for myself and I'm JJJ.fff on Battle.net.
Here's how to get my second key:
Follow me on Twitter (@JustinFreid), and @reply me with why you should get it. I'll give my extra key to the person who convinces me he or she most deserves it.
There are 3 stipulations:

Funny you should say that, because the company that designed the original 360 (and presumably this new redesign) is also the company that designs stuff for Alienware...

Lol, thats funny.
I dont understand why MS would put a huge vent on top of the unit. Dust will clog the fans like crazy, and with the 360's horrid stability record i would be very nervous laying it down flat on my shelf.

Does anybody know if the push is applied to chat messages when the messages toggle is on? Does it only apply to the messages that arrive in your inbox? Also, could someone explain what Facebook gathers from your phone during sync? I would rather not give any information that compromises anything my friends would like to keep out of the hands of Facebook.

My wife's an RN and has both been in a number of anesthetized surgeries and has had some herself.
Most patients do just fine - as described above. Redheads are a bit more sensitive to anesthesia (not sure why, but apparently it's true), but that isn't an issue unless your anesthesiologist is color-blind. ;)
Some people - including my wife - are prone to a bit of nausea afterwards, but it's usually short-lived and it isn't an issue with most people. One thing that helps is to pay strict attention to the fasting/drinking instructions they'll give you beforehand. That cookie might seem like nothing when you're hungry before you go in, but you'll regret it upon waking up.
Also, depending on the anesthesia and your particular reaction to it, you'll almost undoubtedly have some period - a few seconds to an hour or so - of time where you are lucid but don't have functional short-term memory... meaning you might say naughty things to your neurosurgeon but then will have no idea why he's looking at you like that later on.... ;)
I have plenty of dirty things in my mind, nd it doesn't help that my neurosurgeon is hot. I'm effed.

I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't giving out keys anymore, since the beta doesn't last too much longer. An update said they planned to take it down for a few weeks, then bring it back for a few weeks prior to release. There aren't too many weeks left.
Did anyone get keys from Best Buy? I thought it was just Gamestop. I went to the store and it was printed on my receipt.

Does this tell us anything? The iPhone will eventually come out... great! Before it comes out, it will be tested... double great!
As for the random iPod tidbit at the bottom, it has nothing to do with the rest of the rumor. On another note, does it make any sense? Why would apple start production on the new iPod in December? When would the release be then?

Kinda wonder if this "PI" is even real...
Since the story broke, the guy's website has been posted across every tech news site around.
Fact of the matter is that I am sure that this situation has netted him a few more sales.

I'm sure it has too. But you just KNOW it won't go on. Apple people read all those tech sites too and know all about it now!

...I think that's applies here. Using a Mac is so simple, generally speaking, that the folding@home pages seem obtuse in comparison. The pages are all ugly, and instructions are unclear, and files seem to be missing that instruction pages reference.
To increase participation I recommend that a very clear communicator make a new thread (perhaops a sticky) with *dead simple* step by step instructions w/screenshorts on how to install and turn it on (circa 2010). Maybe even a screen flow that just shows exactly how to it, hosted on a service with crystal clear video like vimeo.com. Get our mirror neurons goin', yaknow?
i agree 100% with everything you just said. that said, which version, of which client, on which system, running which OS....:eek: you get the idea. it's a huge program with lots of different possible setups, and can be a real nightmare to get/keep running.
i know lots about folding, but have no idea how to help you with your current setup questions, the big units are way out of my league, and anything posted in a sticky will likely be out of date very quickly. it's dynamic and changes and updates on a regular basis. that's a good thing, but it makes keeping up with folding very difficult and time consuming.
forums like this and the official F@H forums are a really good place to start. asking questions (like you already did) is a great start, because everyone here/there want to fold and help others fold, as it's the point of the whole thing. more people folding is always better than less, therefore help all who ask. there are several here running clients on systems just like yours and will likely respond in turn. best of luck getting it sorted out.
