Excellent photo of Toronto lakeshore skyline with CNTower near harbourfront.
Will your friend be willing to share the original to a fellow Toronto native, please?

Suddenly because Nokia is transitioning into the smart phone market all the fanboys consider them to be a company on the verge of bankruptcy, even though they dominate the market in most countries.
Nokia has been in the smart phone market for a very long time.

Oh that is soooo going to P.O. my girlfriend. She's an elementary teacher and I just finished convincing her to buy one of those when they became available in Canada.
It makes me want to cry everytime I go over there and have to use her old e-machines... :o :(

Is the Verizon iPhone 4 EVER going to get the update to iOS 4.3 or has Apple just given up? Seriously, I feel like I have an Android phone here...

Yeah I think I got the same ridiculously loud noise. I followed the instructions that said hold the power button down until the sleep light started flashing and then this huge "BEEP" came out of the laptop and I jumped backward.
yup thats what im talking about. .......................:D
was my reaction lol
I think we most likely held it down too long.

Hopefully it'll fail hard and GM will be forced to design a proper EV and not just another hybrid.
the problem is EV only cars have a very limited range and can not handle long distance traveling. On top of that it takes a long time to bring their charge back up.
Plug in hybrid like the Volt solve that problem by providing another fuel source for longer traveling and for times when it can not be charged. The batteries in the volt are 40 mile range. Well with in most people's daily distance. It would of been nice to see it up to 60-70 miles and I hope in the future they kick it to 100 miles range but we still need a hybrid power source.
Batteries are good for short range and we need another source for longer range. The Volt's design makes it every easy to switch over to another back up generator since that is all the gas engine does.

Don't worry. They will do it by Thanksgiving at the latest. Top speed will remain 2GHz. But battery life will be doubled. :p
Little doubt Apple buys their processors "Just-In-Time" so there is no stockpile of obsolete processors to deplete. Mini will get Core 2 as well by Thanksgiving.
Well... I'll still have to worry, since I absolutely *must* have the MacBook on the 29th October, at the latest ;) . I'm leaving to Granada on a 6-month Erasmus interchange, and there's NO WAY I'm buying a MacBook with a spanish keyboard (nor will I get it only on my christmas vacation, and besides, or won't be as easy to have it shipped there)... On the other hand, the VAT in Spain is MUCH lower than in Portugal... I know this is totally off-topic, but do you know if it's easy to change a MacBook keyboard layout? :D

According to the info in iTunes the 4.3.3 update file has exactly the same size as 4.3.2 had: 666.2 MB for my iPhone 4.

Since FCP will be editing everything natively (and I assume that means all sorts of AVCHD files), ironically that means many of us won't need the super high speed Thunderbolt drives.
AVCHD files top out at 24 Mbps (or thereabouts), and since this is around the bitrate of DV, ye olde FW800 drives should be fine for external storage. Internal storage should be fine - 10 hours of footage will only take 130 GB or so.
i don't really see TB as a need (atm) for faster transport speeds, i see it as a "hub" that can take any external devise and send it down the same pipe, eventually eliminating usb 2/3, esata, firewire. of course this magic breakout box i speak of doesn't exist yet :)
my pocket drive has firewire, usb and esata connects. remove all for a TB, cost goes down.
opens the door for uncompressed or "less compressed" video formats, more color space, etc.

What company wimax router do you use and what's the monthly fee?
I'm on UQ Wimax with an NEC A t e r m W M 3 5 0 0 R router. It's a POS really, I keep losing my wifi connection when I have my laptop AND my Android phone(s) connected. But it's so inconsistent, sometimes hours go by before I get an issue, sometimes it happens within minutes.
I only keep it cuz it's fairly stable with just my MBA connected, and because of the amazing 8 hours of battery.
This was plan with no contract, and flat fee for unlimited (actually really unlimited, this is Japan!) data. 4490/month. With contract is 500 cheaper or something, maybe 1000. Can't remember. Device itself was 5100, and activation was another 2-3000.

iLife is NOMORE...Leopard intigrates everything, iLife, iWork... EVERYTHING
that is just the natural progression isn't it?
i think the current iLife suites my needs well, and i can go on using this great software still till next feb. it really is reliable, useful, and still "new" technology...

That makes sense, but since the 26th is a Tuesday doesn't that mean that it may ship on the day of the announcement? Don't stores usually get shipments on Tuesdays? Correct me if I'm wrong.

if it is true, please make it multi network compatible. I am sick of the bait and switch crap to get phone users to switch network providers, just to have an other provider come out with an other hot feature (or phone), that is exclusive to them too.
I hate cell phone contracts!

Very cool! One question though- how do you make the dock transparent? I don't see that as an option in system preferences...is there an app that is needed
I personally don't like the dock so I use a handy little application called 'Mirage'. It gets the job done. Cheers!

Apple isn't necessarily thinking how do we facilitate the creation of dvds so people can make home videos and share them with friends - they're going to the root - what's the best way of distributing videos - right now, upload to the internet is much faster and much more widely used then DVD burning.
ah, yeah, the best way for me to share a 50 minute movie of my newborn baby is to upload to the net? No. Not even close.
I have nothing against iDVD but like i said earlier it wont disappear, support will still be available for 3 years or so and iDVD will not disappear from your apps.
Yeah, iDVD is still there. But there are enhancements yet to be made to this software. Is iDVD multi-core aware? Does the iMovie to iDVD round trip not include a transcode to MPEG4 H.264 and then another transcode to MPEG2? These items should be corrected.
In other words, they might be replacing the software with something that does that job better, and the job is not creating DVDs, the job is distributing media in a beautiful way - maybe we will see the an app in iLife that was rumored before about making something like the Movie extras, with menus and other content - similar to iDVD but then its to upload or stick somewhere else or on your apple tv or on your iphone or ipad
I'm with you here. I need something to create final finished product. an iTunes LP style thing would be cool. I also need it to be "press button" dead simple. Not every consumer I send media to (think grandma) is tech savvy.

I connected the iPhone with Apple AV cable (composite) to my TV set: Sound will be streamed to the TV set, video not (live tv and recorded files).
I hope this works in future. (Which needs Apple to be on board? Is there real 3rd-party support for video-out yet?)
It would be cool to be visiting someone's house and be able to access my EyeTV stuff and output to their TV. I've output the built-in YouTube app to TV, and that's a nice feature.

haha, that was great, could not stop laughing and going after AT&T was perfect, forget driving call drops, how about walk call drops.
And the Drama continues. Now we just need jobs talking about the issue, and we have a full blow move made for tv.

I thought the human eye couldn't detect anything over 30 fps?
Old wives tale. I can easily tell the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps TV shows on my HDTV. (Well, my EyeTV hybrid anyway, since my physical TV is still SD.)
If something is rock-solid 30fps, it is generally 'good enough', but most games aren't a rock solid frame rate, they vary.

Well if Apple is introducing a Movie Store, I'd hope that they have enough bandwidth to host their own introduction event... ;)
Well they did buy that huge data center a while back. What was it called again? A "tier 4" something or another.
