There seems to be a bit of beer snobbery going on here. I don't particularly like stouts (apart from the odd Caffrey's) and don't like standard lagers, the likes of Tennents, Carling, McEwans... but I will drink a Bud. It's cheap mass produced fizzy water, but hey it's better than not having a beer. I also like Fosters, Carlsberg, and Rolling Rock (which if anybody knows where to get them in this country I'd be eternally grateful).
My uncle loves Rolling Rock....I'm not a fan, buit will drink it if it's cold and there's nothing else. :D But like I said, I'll drink a Miller High Life or Labatt Blue too, so while I loves me some fancy microbrew, I'm not averse to high-volume lager. I like Stella Artois too, even though we get the crappy export version here in the states. Also Becks.

Has anyone tested the game on a Macbook Pro 13' Mid 2010?
I want to buy the game, but I don't know if it will work fine.
Just a guess but I think it will run fine even in osx. It's still using the source engine and if left 4 dead 2 is any indication than portal 2 will be similar. I played l4d2 on my 2010 13" in OSX and it ran very well. Given that IMO there is a lot more going on in that game with all the zombies and gunplay and effects compared to portal 2, it should be okay. The times when fps dips on portal 2 is when you're looking directly into a portal and it's processing what's on the other side of it. Lmk if you want a link to the l4d2 video played on my old 2010 Mbp. It's under my YouTube vids. I played at native resolution and I think medium settings all around. Portal 2 honestly doesn't seem any more demanding from my hour with it. If anything it's less demanding than left 4 dead 2 running on the same game engine.

I can't help but wonder what the folks over at AVID are thinking of the new Final Cut Pro X. They are either terrified, or they have huge smiles on their faces thinking about all the new users they might be picking up this summer.
As for me, I've been sitting on the fence waiting to see what Apple would come out with before switching completely to AVID. After watching the demos, it's looking like I'm sticking with Apple. That is unless they screw this up in the next couple of months.

So it's reasonable to make the point that this technique wouldn't be worth the trouble because other methods of tracking people are at least as effective and have larger ranges, but it's less reasonable to say that Nike tracking is of no concern because people can see other people when they are 60 feet away.
I'm not sure what part of my post implies that I think this issue is of no concern. I am skeptical, however, that the poster I was replying to will actually find many "fun" ways to exploit it.

From my understanding FCP will still transcode your footy from AVCHD to ProRes (because by miles thats still the best codec to edit + add effects to) but it does it in the background along with all the faces/shot/stabilisation analysis. While a clip is being imported your allowed to work on the AVCHD file but it is automatically seamlessly swapped with the ProRes file when its ready. Which, if im right, is absolutely epic :)
Adds questions about where files are stored tho...
I think it'd be more epic to do an offline in avchd, making an IMG backup of the disk which stored the content. You can make an avchd edit and then when you have a picture lock, go back to the original, transcode automatically the footage you need, do your color correction and effects with the better files and export a pro res file or whatever you need. Though disk space is cheap, that would be a workflow I'd love to have since I'm handed hundreds of gigs of footage for a short video, easily filling up a multi-terabyte computer and externals quite quickly.

Uhh...that is not how Amazon's service works at all. Amazon syncs your entire library. It's only that new Amazon purchases don't count towards used space. Only syncing new purchases would be worthless.

That would be kind of Green IT. We all store copies of files Apple anyway have spinning on their disks. What a waste of disk space on global scale.
Except its not very "green" to shuttle data all over the place because you no longer have a local copy. Think of the terabyes and terabytes of streaming bandwidth required for everyone to listen to the latest hit song via the cloud. What a waste of bandwidth on a global scale, and arguably, bandwidth comes at much more of a premium than disk/storage space.
Not really sure what to make of this yet- but it is highly likely that I will have no use for it, as I keep my library as ALAC files too. That would be impractical from a storage and bandwidth standpoint to put on the cloud. I just hope that some improvements to iDisk come as a result of this.
