Steve needs to use one in an area other than a huge city with great reception. The guy is delusional or a liar.
Yeah. K. keep dreaming.
The company who makes the darn thing vs. bunch of whiny morons on teh blogz.
Easy call, on who has a better idea of what's going on.
I have one that is dropping calls 1/4 of the time. Was at Apple store. An employee there bought a bumper for his. He sounded frustrated over the dropped calls. You fanboys got to come up with something more that people are morons or whining over it. I assure you this issue is quite real.

It'd be funnier had he tried to blend it with the aluminum back and batteries. Blending the display isn't quite the feat.
Also the reason it works when bent is because the components are all at the top. Middle/Bottom is mostly made up of the batteries. Theoretically you could cut it in half and it'd still work. Although I doubt the display would function with half it missing :P
Ah well, still good for a laugh.

Nice! I saw a Slightly Stoopid concert when they were up at one of the casinos here in Shreveport, Louisiana.
They are hitting up a few places in Texas soon. Might want to check it out.

Panic. I installed the firmware, the little bar was moving across the screen, and then halfway across -- the computer shut down. Now my screen is dead, I can't tell if the hard drive is functioning, my restore CD is 20 miles away, and I'm scared witless. WTF?!?!?!
Suggestions?
Try holding the power button on the machine until you hear a long tone and then see if it boots.

That speaks to the point these researchers are making. They used the Nike+iPod Sport Kit as their example, but their message is that all sorts of gadgets with wireless communications capabilities can have these types of problems, especially if thought isn't give to the issue during design.
Doesn't matter, if you are going to go around planting sensors and planting a transmitter in someone's backpack, there are alot easier and possibly even cheaper ways. No one in their right mind would do this other than to prove its possible.
Last i heard someone could track me when I walk down the street too

My C2D iMac run idle at about 36-37 C, your saying that is incorrect?
Mind you, he is referring to the MacBook. I would expect iMacs to run cooler.

I see the point, but there's a bit of a difference between something not being to your taste and telling the people who run the sites that they're geeks who don't know what constitutes a newsworthy site. :)
If I did complain I'd do it in a way that was at least civil, hehe.
Well, I hope the person who said that appreciates the irony in their statement. I dont know how ANYONE on MR isnt a GEEK. I wear that with total pride:) Stay well dude

I have thought about my tounge.
I dont think I could do it though. As a kid I had to have the doctor remove a bit of some sort of connective tissue from under my tounge so I could speak properly, guess I had a lisp or something. My under tounge throbbed for a week. Bitting my tounge hurts enough. Plus the fact the tounge is a muscle.
i started with my belly button in college, and then had my tongue pierced 7 years ago. it hurt, but not as much as you'd think. something about expecting the pain versus being surprised by it. in a psychology class in college, a study showed that injuries on the battlefield actually hurt less than injuries from a kitchen accident (on a subjective rating scale). no one expects to get hurt in the kitchen. unless you're really clumsy, i suppose.
the actual needle going through wasn't too bad. it hit right after though like biting your tongue pretty badly. but then it faded, and i was talking (but not quite intelligibly) within a few minutes. and it really didn't bleed much at all. eating was a challenge for a couple of days, and it was heaven to really be able to eat and talk better after the week they make you wait to get a shorter piece of jewelry. they made me start with 1.5 inch stud because your tongue swells at first. i went down to a 3/4 inch stud after that. still a small gauge though. i really have no interest in making the whole in my tongue any larger.
nice piercing, by the way. i like it.

I loved it. Portal is one of those events in computing life. I never game these days except for Portal, Katamari, and UT99.

I would ask the same question. However, that's not how patent law works in the USA. Nokia doesn't have to spend their time/money watching other people's products, tearing them apart, and looking for patent infringement. All Nokia needs to do is SOME DAY realize their patent was infringed and then file a lawsuit. That's it.
True that they can do it but the original question remains. Why did Nokia wait until now before doing it ?

Why would Apple want a bunch of warehouses full of DVDs?
Thank you! I'm not understanding why people think Apple would want a piece of the snail-mail optical market. I know people on here stream a lot, but they're not the majority of Netflix.
But even then, I don't understand why Apple would want a bunch of game console apps?
And they'd lose a not-insignificant number of streaming customers if you could only stream to Apple devices.
There's nothing buying Netflix would give Apple that Apple couldn't do themselves, or already have. And there's a lot buying Netflix would give Apple that they have zero interest in. Including some anti-trust investigations.

Poconos. I am conservative, but could not bring myself to vote for our conservative canadidates, but I did not want to support the democratic opposition, so I did not vote. Might of not been the smartest thing to do, but I'm young.

IMO this is the most amazing release from apple in quite some time. As a runner, I'm frankly blown away by this. I have a nano already, but this is awesome.

What was it, before the iPad 2 announcement, that every one was certain of? iPad 2 will be late. No new iPad til September.
Apple laughed at that and said, actually were ready to go next week.
+1 ... The iPad 2 rumors were ridiculous claiming no iPad until summer/fall. Laughable.

I hope that if they do release iLife '07 (october?) they will give you a coupon for a free upgrade (or at least a significant discount) to iLife '08 if they plan on going back to a MWSF release.

It's the same here at the University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign, particularly in the computer science department. Powerbooks, MacBooks and MBP's everywhere :) - and while I heard a lot of Mac hate, even from myself, a few years ago - that's almost completely evaporated.
We also just got a second (well a real) Apple Store/resaler - and for only being a 10x10' store, I rarley see less than 4-5 people in there browsing.
Hey, I've been to the Illini Apple Center. Nice place but a bit small. I graduated a few years ago but still have my student ID. I show them and I get the discount. Actually, the first time I purchased something there I brought a friend 'cause he's still a student but they didn't even ask for ID.

Could someone Please point out where in any of my posts I said we should do the same thing? I was simply pointing out that another poster who seemed to think that this kind of behavior didn't exsist in other countries wAs wrong.
Likewise, can you please point out where in any of my posts I said it didn't exist? I was simply pointing out that another poster needed to source their assertions.
Seems like I'm not the only one jumping to conclusions here.
And Kavika? If we removed every condescending, curt or rhetorical post in PRSI we'd be left with only iJohnHenry's cornball jokes. I've taken part in political forums that make PRSI look like a sewing circle (and left because I'm not into simply slamming people).
Sorry if I'm playing too rough for you. :(

but if it's 'per port' then each port has two 10-Gbps channels I can't see it getting clearer than that.
If the ports weren't independent, it would have to say 'Two 10-Gbps data channels between them' or 'Two 10-Gbps data channels but under full load they're 5-Gbps'
Apple's spec sheets have always been masterful at implying more than is actually available. The sheets will say "five USB 2.0 ports at 480 Mbps" without mentioning that all five are on one USB hub and the 480 Mbps is shared among the ports.
Besides, you are aware that the iMac model in the teardown was the 21.5" with one TB port? There's every possibility that the 27" with two TB ports has two TB controllers. In fact I would say it's more of a likelihood than a possibility
Good point about the 21.5" teardown, but in fact I would say that I anticipate the 27" teardown photos.

I hope Steve will talk about the MacBooks, talking about how well it has sold, and then say something like "which is why, we will uppgrade both MacBook and MacBook Pro"
That would be funky.

I upgraded my mini to a core 2 duo. Which means that from now on, firmware updates will be just a little bit more exciting. :)
Anybody know, before I plunge in, whether this update will have any impact on my upgraded mini?
