If you want to know what is on the 120Gb hdd read this (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/13122/Xbox-360-120-GB-HDD-Content-Revealed/).

Microsoft let us know that every standalone 120 GB hard drive and Xbox 360 Elite hard drive will have the full version of the Xbox Live Arcade game Hexic HD as well as a variety of dashboard themes and gamer pics. The stand alone 120 GB hard drive will be preloaded with between 3-5 game demos depending on the region as well as an assortment of Xbox Live Arcade games demos and HD game trailers.

nice! what is the overclock right now?

I've been running at 4.2ghz. My volts are very good too at 1.26, I did manage 4.4 @ 1.27v but wasn't stable enough under my current cooling. I upgraded the mobo to an Asus Rampage III Extreme and upgraded the PSU to a TX850 Corsair. I'm getting my old 1600w Ultra X3 replaced with the X4 and will probably run that as I want to add more GPUs to my system, more than likely 2 more 460s.

Not gonna happen. For starters, how do you type in names for your audio tracks when you've got your keyboard swapped for a mixer? :)

    Still, neat idea.

    External keyboard.

The overlay input device would obviously need to replace the laptop's keyboard, but plugging in an external keyboard would be easy enough.

I don't agree with "Spanky Deluxe" who said that these overlays would cost a fortune.

They would certainly cost less than buying a completely physically separate component.

I keep imagining something like those "Z-Board" gaming keyboards that are custom made for each game, but in this case it's just the overlay and the functionality that changes.

    Interesting...

There was really no surprise to spoil. We've all known about this for a year or so (or at least had a pretty good feeling). I mentioned it on my website a month ago: www.adamcz.net/stocks

EDIT: I'd also like to add, that I find it interesting that we're simultaneously entering an era of Blu Ray/HDDVD and low quality downloads. I just bought my first HDTV, and I really want to make good use of it. I've therefore got no interest in downloading a movie that is inferior to DVD quality. I think they might as well target only ipods with this service, or make sure their files look good on big tvs. I don't see a lot of marketshare for the in-between.

Where is the labret "resting" on the inside, is it more teeth or gums?
I thought to get one, but an an accident ... yikes, that could do some serious damage I would think.

rests against your gums... it has a flat back, and actually your lip heals with an indent to accommodate the backing so you never feel it.

There is a new method of producing carbon fiber called "chopped carbon fiber." It might make sense for Apple to use something like this as opposed to woven carbon fiber, which is very expensive to manufacture.

If someone clings to the hood of my car I'm not supposed to drive away?

If someone holds on to the hood of my car, he better hold on tight.

I do think it's unreasonable to be FORCED to stop because someone is deliberately trying to get you to stop by hanging onto you car. If you do stop, they win. Why would you let them win so easily?

I certainly hope that Virtual Desktops make their way into this version of OS X. This is one of the biggest features I'm surprised that never made it in, considering that pretty much every other distribution of UNIX/Linux I've ever seen has a virtual desktop manager.

I don't know where the 'new monitor' rumor is coming from since I'm not seeing anything mentioned in the original post, but I wouldn't be surprised to see new monitors with a built in iSight, so pretty much all Macs can have a camera along with them. Will it also have a built-in microphone?

    Not paint, point.

With a black bezel, the whitest point of the screen looks like white to your eyes.

With a white bezel, the bezel is the whitest, so white on the LCD never looks white. it usually looks blue or yellow.

Works both ways though, black on the display of the 'old' iPhone 4 never looks quite black with the black face of the phone.

I agree with you zen, my dual 1.42 just screams... a tower would be a best bet for expandability. I recently upgrade to 2 320gb drive RAID0 for my boot drive, and will be putting up two more HDD on the empty IDE Drive caddies. A maxed out RAM and BTO ATI 9700 with QE/CI support. I can play flash with no problems, not HD movie though it stutters.

They should have add Wi-Fi, up the 400 Model to HDMI, 120GB Harddrive, then give the core 20Gb harddrive and Wi-Fi, and no HDMI. None of this werid 3rd SKU...still better then no Xbox 360 improvement, plus the kept the low end so I can buy what I want.

That's a great set of ideas, but if Microsoft did that it would imply that they actually have a brain or two and they clearly don't.

"I think and hope that people are going to understand. There is as price for being an early adopter and your points and feelings are valid (Penello said when referring to gamers IGN suggested would be angry about the new system). But whenever you innovate and change, you have to face this situation. Your same old system is still perfectly valid."

"We could never have done this before, to bring HMDI and 120 GB to the system when we launched in 2005. The reason we didn't do it before was because the HDMI standard wasn't complete. It takes time to develop these things. We started the console earlier than Sony did and when the HDMI standard wasn't done. At the time we were developing, this stuff was in transition."

******* off you couldn't have in HDMI in 2005. MS really irks me with this move. I wanted a god damn HDMI port....

This is such an obvious attempt to play the whole "lets match Sony" game. I mean come on, lets make it black (like PS3), with HDMI (like PS3) AND OMG 120GB HDD! IT's teh bigger than Sony!

um...but you can buy any old hard drive for a PS3, whereas your 120GB drive is almost $200 bucks...

    Yep...I agree wholeheartedly.
    Their excuses are laughable.

I hope my (recently RoD fixed) 360 doesn't break down after the 1yr warranty is up because if it does, I may spend my money elsewhere (ie Ps3 if I don't already own one) where at least I know I won't be nickel-and-dimed.

After this fiasco, I don't think I'll be spending much money in the XBLM anymore. I spent (roughly) $5 on 3 UFC videos (including Liddell-Ortiz 1) and for my trouble, I have 4gigs free on my 12g HD. (I say 12g since that's all they give us on a "20g HD".)

What I want to see from WWDC:

    1) New PowerMac (Mac Pro?).
    2) New xServer.
    3) Updates for MacBook Pros, iMac, MacBook, Mac Mini Lines.
    4) New iPods.
    5) Something cool and unexpected from the preview of Leopard.
    6) Steve in his usual smart and practical black turtle neck.

Then I'd be happy :D

True that they can do it but the original question remains. Why did Nokia wait until now before doing it ?

    Who knows.

Why did Apple take two years before they sued HTC? Did it take them that long to figure it out? Did they wait until HTC became a threat? All of the above?

Now my final question would be, is it possible Apple could file suit against BOTH Microsoft and Nokia when the Windows Phone 7 Nokia phones come out? I mean, Steve Jobs said it himself that Apple had patented the iPhone to the hilt and intended to protect all those patents.

Jobs is a showman, not an engineer. Many of his remarks should not be taken at face value.

There's not a lot in the iPhone that's patented by Apple. I can think of about four "major" items offhand: their particular touchscreen position decoder, their slot antenna using the case trim, their way of implementing a scrolling direction lock, and their way of doing a bounce at the end of a page. Oh, and their way of doing a slide-to-unlock.

You can certainly make a nice smartphone without any of the above. I cannot think of a way for Apple to make a GSM phone without using GSM patents.

As I remember when this first came out, Nokia wanted both money and access to Apple's patent portfolio. Apple did not want to give Nokia access to Apple's patent portfolio and wanted to pay Nokia less money (Note - Nokia wanted to get a percentage of each phone sold (lot of money for a smart phone) while Apple wanted to give a lesser fixed amount).

The original royalty for GSM phones was a percentage of the retail price. The GSM inventors came up with that plan as a way of promoting phones that everyone in the world could afford. (Something that Apple isn't at all interested in. They just want to use the technology and infrastructure that other companies spent billions on, to make their own billions in high profits.)

Many companies also shared a patent pool, and those that did got a better royalty deal of course.

Nokia offered royalty plans both with and without patent sharing. However, Apple doesn't like to share patents, and they felt that all the proposed payments were too high.

So Nokia has asked a jury in Delaware to decide the amount. You can't get much more fair than that.

GMs Plans for Chevy Volt Profitability (http://gm-volt.com/2010/12/02/gms-plans-for-chevy-volt-profitability/)

The Chevrolet Volt is a heroic and landmark vehicle, and a grand achievement by General Motors. We here have been following the cars development since its inception as a concept, and along the way have often wished GM would plan to sell many hundreds of thousands of them. The more Volts on the road, the less oil used.
Of course GM shouldnt build more cars than can be sold, and more importantly for the newly profitable company, they shouldnt build cars they cannot make money on.
According to multiple GM executives there is little or no profit being made on each Volt built at a present cost of around $40,000. Furthermore, the $700 million of development that went into the car has to be recouped.
GM does have a plan to make the Volt business case profitable, according to vehicle line executive Doug Parks. In reality, it wont be profitable at the beginning, said Parks about the Volt.
The plan to profitability is to reduce cost on a yearly basis as opposed to waiting the full development cycle to a second generation, typically 5 or 6 years for most cars. It is our hope, every year as we have opportunity to improve the performance and even take cost out, that at the end of the first lifecycle we make money, he said.
Parks also disclosed GM is trying to improve efficiency with each yearly iteration too, but that itself wont help bring down costs, except if less lithium ion cells are needed to achieve the same range. Were developing technology that can lead to minor increases in performance but a big cost reduction, he said.
No big changes to range and/or performance, just ongoing tweaks and refinements in many different areas, including battery, Parks told GM-Volt. We will have a strong focus to improve costs, but will make sure we at least maintain performance or even improve it slightly if possible.
Parks also reported that the entire 2011 build inventory has already been sold out. Those units, he said, are gone.
Despite this high demand and low volume, GM has no immediate production modifications. Theres really no plan to change that slow ramp-up through next year, he says. Then, when we really open it up in 12, well build our planned volume and see what the market says. If we want to do a lot more, well look at it.

MotleyPete is a man of taste and distinction. Pay heed to his wise words.

For those with beards and home knitwear, and who like a bit of cask beverage, may I recommend The Brewery Tap in Chester, UK (my home town).

It's owned by local independent brewery Spitting Feathers and has their own products plus plenty of guest ales. It's situated in a magnificent Jacobean great hall, part of Gamul House, where King Charles I stayed in 1645 during the Battle of Rowton Moor (which he lost), prior to losing his head.

    The food is also good.

I don't think they sell Bud., but I may be wrong.

Most people wouldn't steal food here, but if violent hoarding can be considered 'looting', then I would say the possibility is high under similar circumstances. By 'violent hoarding' I mean disrespecting one-per-customer policies and cutting in lines whilst armed with a shotgun. People here are easily freaked out by the crisis-loving media (don't get me started about the swine flu in 2009), and we have very liberal laws on firearms compared to the rest of Europe.

In that situation I would exempt food from the looting category and possibly most consumer items for that matter. It's not like stores were abandoned and being robbed. When everything is washed away and strewn about and you are reduced to a survival situation then I see no problem with it even if the food was sitting in an undamaged store. Survival is survival. Leave them an IOU. ;)
