Nice! That is awesome Apple, way to go. Another one of those features that make computing a whole lot easier and way more fun.

Just when you think they can't make iPods any smaller...
I think the G3 shuffle will be built right into the little earbuds. No wires. Beats me how you'd control it. Maybe tap it with a finger? Untill it disapears completely there is always room to make it smaller.
Don't laugh. Someone must have said once "how smal can theymake eyeglasses? then they invented contact lenses and then laser surgury. Poof the glasses disappered.
All I reayy want to see however is for the wire to be gone in the next revision.

Verizon does, in a way. I've met one of there guys.
They have 50 cell phones in a car connected to a computer that continually makes calls, checks quality, hangs up and does it again. They also have phones of competing carriers hooked up to make comparisions with the competition.
They have lots of these cars and drive all over the place collecting data to ensure that there coverage is indeed better than the competition. Like I said, I met one of these guys and saw the car first hand.
They have about a hundred of these test cars and trucks across the country, if I recall the business articles about them correctly.
And because their tests include competing networks, Verizon probably has one of the most accurate coverage maps for everyone.
As far as the iPhone app goes, I think it's a great idea for carriers without test vehicles and/or to see where the most desire for extra coverage is.
Edit: Here's a 2005 article (http://www.mobiletracker.net/archives/2005/04/04/verizon-wireless-hear-me-now)about a test car setup, with pictures of the car and test rigs at the bottom.

FWIW, there's already a discussion about this on MacBytes...

There's also a CNN video (http://www.cnn.com/TECH/) report on this story that's truly lame. Fearmongering at its best.

Not gonna happen. For starters, how do you type in names for your audio tracks when you've got your keyboard swapped for a mixer? :)
Still, neat idea.
Look at the diagram again. The mixer could be placed below the keyboard, where that trackpad and wrist rests would normally be....
oh, HELL no. Please don't tell me you're serious. Can you actually imagine someone carrying around a portfolio of these plates to lay on their computer? That's worse than an 8" floppy!!!
Unbelievable.
I pray this never sees the light of day.
-Clive
I doubt people would carry them around. I think this is more about offering customized MB/MBP input interfaces for specific educational or professional purposes.

Not much of a math person either, eh?
Guess not, if I was selling Fruit on my market stall and someone said, what's your top/best selling item of fruit and I said, oh, Apple's Apples are the No.1 and No.2 best selling pieces of fruit I have, they outsell everything.
Oh, so you sell loads of Apples the guy asks?
No, I don't sell that many Apple's compared to my other fruit.
the bloke leave with a confused look on his face.

I don't really like the idea of the macpro line-up having different chips.
I know in order to produce a quad lineup.. they'll have to, and it makes little difference to the end user.... but the idea of using "lesser" chips in the low end model bugs me.It bugs me the idea that Apple can't produce a middle-of-the-range machine. Something that doesn't have all the bells and whistles but runs well enough :) Ah well, to each their own!

Maybe the $899 iMac is a holdover for people who need to buy now. August 7 could have something that is much nicer than that...next gen eMac?

Makes sense. That's probably one of the biggest uses of the ATV and Apple doesn't get a cut of that action.
That being said, Netflix inclusion is the only reason I bought the ATV2. If they cut Netflix, I'll by another product.
Apple should just buy Netflix.
I doubt it. There would be an "anti-monoply" uprising so big that it makes the AT&T/T-Mobile merger look popular.

oh man. that's not cool.
take a look here. (http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=15196) there is a link to a driver sweeper. direct link (http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/) if the other doesn't work.
let us know if you are still having trouble and we'll try to help
Well I fixed the video problem... I have been using a KVM to route all video to one monitor that way I don't have to keep unplugging the monitor from each machine as I check it, so I decided to see what would happen if I hooked the monitor directly to the 980x and it works perfectly that way.
Then I tried to load the folding apps and that didn't go so well so I have some more work to do to figure that out.

Garmin/Tomtom and co should be scared.
Na, these two have and will survive without iPhone.
These already have traffic capability anyway ( via subscription service).
I use the Navigon iOS app and Apple would have to produce something truely remarkable to make me switch from that. They do store the Navetec maps locally so it continues to work without a cell signal. They also offer lifetime traffic and speed/stop light camera locations.

@300D: your conclusion about X1900GT is based on PC world scores. In Mac OS performance is more driver and app dependent. Most of barefeats benches (gaming) are pointing that 7800 is faster than X1900GT, esp. in higher resolutions. 7800GTX 512MB (flashed) has 8 pipes more and twice RAM than X1900GT (24 vs 16).

Who really thought another iPad would come out this year...i mean honestly?
Honestly?
Here is what I think. At the fall iPod debuts we will see a new iPod targeted at the space between a Touch and an iPad. The current iPad 2 will not be replaced though an update is always possible.
This new iPod/Mini iPad would be marketed as a Video & gaming device. At least that is one possibility I imagine. The thing is iOS is hot and Apple needs to exploit that with desirable devices.
